My Approach
My goal as a therapist is to bear witness to you in a way few of us get to experience in the presence of another. I hope to be with you as an expert in the process itself. I don’t see myself as a guide or a healer but as a collaborator who is committed to you and where you seek to go. I aim to support you to uncover another way of being, one that feels more like you - the you that perhaps exists under expectations, layers of trauma, social norms, and systemic oppression. Overtime, and as we build trust and comfort in our relationship, we will explore your experiences, relationships, and emotional life that hold meaning to you and through which you became the person sitting across from me.
I primarily work from a psychodynamic orientation, believing that much of what drives us is heavily influenced by our relationships with primary caregivers and early environments. These attachments and experiences color our emotional lives and create the foundation for how we relate to ourselves and others. We will use our relationship to explore and identify how these early patterns continue to shape and influence interpersonal interactions today.
Depending on the individual and their needs, I also incorporate elements of other modalities into my work, including aspects of somatic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and more. In this way, I aim to allow the therapy to unfold uniquely for each person, providing a space and opportunity to gain more self understanding that in turn allows you to respond and act in ways that are more in alignment with who you know yourself to be.
